Our 5th grade intermediate program is intentionally designed to bridge the elementary and middle school years, giving students the support of an elementary setting while gradually introducing the increased independence, responsibility, and experiences of middle school.
Our intermediate students are housed in the FLC building alongside our elementary program, which allows them to remain in a familiar and supportive environment. At the same time, they also have access to selected middle school experiences, including electives, athletics, weekly chapel, and leadership opportunities across campus. This blended structure helps students grow in confidence as they prepare for the transition to middle school.
Because the program connects both elementary and middle school experiences, our fifth grade students benefit from a shared leadership model. Students are supported by the elementary team in their daily learning environment while also working with middle school faculty and staff in areas such as chapel, electives, and athletics. This collaborative approach ensures that students are well known, well supported, and gradually prepared for the expectations of the next division.
As the oldest students in the FLC building, intermediate students also serve in meaningful leadership roles. They may welcome others as morning greeters, lead daily announcements, and read regularly in elementary classrooms. These responsibilities help students build character, confidence, and a strong sense of community.
