Rev. David Lindwall is no stranger to The Woodlands Methodist Church. David and his family lived in The Woodlands in the ’90s when David worked for Shell, and they were members of TWMC. David even taught the Cornerstone Sunday school class.
Growing up in Georgia, David felt a call to ministry, but he didn’t pursue it immediately. During his time at the University of Georgia and throughout a 15-year career with Shell, he continued to feel God’s tug on his heart toward ministry.
While at TWMC the first time, David shared his calling with close friends and founding pastor Dr. Ed Robb, who affirmed that call. After the birth of their twins — who nearly died at birth — David and his wife, Stephanie, decided it was not the right time to enter seminary, and the family moved to London with Shell.
In London the call became impossible to ignore; Stephanie felt called as well. They relocated to Kentucky so David could attend seminary, and he graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2002.
After seminary, David served Methodist congregations in Wells and Longview, Texas. In 2010 he was appointed to the Methodist church in Montgomery. He served as co-pastor of The Church at Montgomery, a campus of The Woodlands Methodist Church, in 2023 before being named Pastor of Caring and Adult Outreach Ministry at TWMC.
“It is an honor to serve at TWMC, where my calling was recognized,” David said. He described his time at The Church at Montgomery as a pinnacle in his ministry and praised the courageous leaders who planted that congregation.
Described by others as a “shepherd,” David focuses his Caring Ministry on senior adults, especially those 80 and above. He brings the church to senior living communities through worship services, Bible studies, and multi-generational connections with NextGen, Bristol House, and The Woodlands Methodist School choir.
David and Stephanie live in Montgomery. Their children — Jack (wife Morgan, granddaughter Ruthie), Grace, Hannah (husband Casey), and McKinley (husband Will, granddaughter Ruth Ann) — live in the Houston area.
